•UPDATE• Robbers kick woman out of their vehicle, take her jewelery

THE woman who were involved in a robbery yesterday in Kenmare, was seriously injured and is recovering in hospital.

The Voice reported that she was allegedly hit in the face when a silver Mercedes-Benz stopped behind her on the corner of Dromore Street and Patrick Road. An unknown amount of men got out and broke the drivers’ window of her car.

Her husband, to protect his wife’s identity said under the condition of anonymity their grandson was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.

“She was pulled from her car and kicked in the other car. They drove off with her where she was brutally assaulted. Our grandson ran after his grandmother when they drove away with her.”

The woman was allegedly threatened by the suspects that they were going to rape and kill her.

“They then took all her jewelery. After she pleaded and prayed that they release her, they kicked her out of the car.”

He said a man named Johan came to her rescue and took her back to her car.

“We thank God for his hand on what might have been and also thank Johan for his help.”

Police and emergency services ER24 were at the scene to assist. The woman was taken by ambulance to the hospital by ER24 paramedics.

Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, a police spokesperson still need to provide comment on the incident.
