New police officers makes successful arrests on foot

KRUGERSDORP CBD — Newly appointed police officers have earned their badge this morning when they made two successful arrests of which involves the confiscation of an unlicensed firearm.

Sergeant Tshepiso Mashele, a Krugersdorp police spokesperson said the police officers were busy conducting foot patrols in the Krugersdorp business district when they noticed two suspicious looking men.

She said it is alleged that when they searched the men one had an unlicensed firearm in his possession.

“It is further alleged that the other suspect was found to be in possession of dagga and a dangerous weapon.”

Both the suspects are being detained at the Krugersdorp police’s holding cells.

“The police officers were happy to make such a huge arrest as there is now a firearm less on the streets,” said Mashele.

Major-General Anna Mateise, West Rand Cluster Commander applauds the new constables for being vigilant in their duties and said that it shows they are well trained and can apply the skills they’ve learned in identifying suspicious individuals on the streets.
