‘Explosives’ used to rob Krugersdorp meat market

LUIPAARDSVLEI — An undisclosed amount of money were stolen in the early hours of Saturday morning when three men fled the scene after robbing a meat store.

Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, a Krugersdorp Police Spokesperson said the men entered the premises of the Central Meat Market in York Street through the office ceiling at about 03:00. The suspects allegedly held the security guard at gunpoint before tying him up with shoelaces.

“They allegedly used explosives to access the safe,” she said. “The explosives unit were called to the scene to further the investigation.”

No suspects have been arrested at this stage and the police is appealing to the community to come forward with any information that might lead to the arrest by phoning the police on 011 955 1111. Police are investigating a business robbery.
