MUNSIEVILLE — The observant eye of a community member has led the police to four elephant tusks, Krugersdorp police said.
Sergeant Tshepiso Mashele, police spokesperson said police members who are part of rural safety were conducting normal police duties when someone approached them.
“The person provided information regarding a male, who was seen carrying something suspicious on his shoulders. He gave a proper description of the person,” she said.
“Police drove around and found him carrying an elephant tusk. The suspect then lead police to his house in Munsieville where three more elephant tusks were discovered.”
The suspect is being detained at the Krugersdorp police station where an investigation is being conducted. He has been arrested for the illegal possession of ivory.
